Is your piece worth saving? # Your furniture has a story. Let's preserve it. Whether it's a treasured family heirloom, a vintage discovery, or a beautifully crafted antique, some furniture deserves a second life. But not every piece should be restored or refinished. Understanding its construction, condition, and historical value can help you make the right decision. At **Rick's Refinishing**, we help homeowners evaluate their furniture and determine whether restoration is worth the investment. Not every antique needs a complete transformation.  The right choice depends on the furniture's condition, history, and your goals. ![Buffet-2](https://www.ricksrefinishing.site/hs-fs/hubfs/Buffet-2.jpg?width=1280&height=960&name=Buffet-2.jpg "Buffet-2") ### Preservation Protects original finishes, patina, and historical character. **Is the piece valuable to you?** Sentimental and historical significance can matter more than resale value.   ### **Restoration** Repairs damage and improves function while respecting the original craftsmanship.  **Is the furniture structurally sound?** Many repairs are possible, but extensive damage can increase costs. **Is restoration a worthwhile investment?** Consider the cost, craftsmanship, and importance of the piece. ![Preservation](https://www.ricksrefinishing.site/hs-fs/hubfs/Preservation.png?width=1162&height=747&name=Preservation.png "Preservation") ![IMG\_0107](https://www.ricksrefinishing.site/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0107.jpg?width=2000&height=1592&name=IMG_0107.jpg "IMG_0107") ### **Refinishing** Renews or changes the existing finish but may affect the value of certain antiques. **Will refinishing affect its value?** Original finishes and patina may be worth preserving.
